Turismo: Ambient Melodic Sequencing
Our Eurorack modular workstation the 'Turismo' is well suited for sequencing beats and groove box style patching but the versatile system can fit equally well into less structured environments.
In this patch we explored using the Turismo to sequence multiple ambient melodic voices including a classic Roland monosynth the SH-101 connected externally for control and processing by the system.
Starting with Pamela's PRO Workout as our clock source, we synced the ASQ-1 sequencer and patched it's two CV/Gate pairs to the SH-101 and a TAZM-O VCO voice respectively.
Voice 1 - SH-101
The SH-101 was sent through our MFX Pedal for granular delay from the Crumbular Echo engine then brought into the system using the stereo line input of the MEGA MILTON utility module. The amplified stereo outputs were connected to channels 1 and 2 of the MEGA-TANG mixer and VCA, hard panned left and right in the mix.
Voice 2 - TAZM-O
Our second voice used the TAZM-O set to a saw wave from its primary shape output, patched through one side of the MCFx2 for a resonant analog low pass filter. The MCFx2's output was connected to channel 3 of the MEGA-TANG for mixing, whose level was controlled by an envelope from the Pip Slope, triggered by the ASQ-1 sequence. For additional character, we modulated the filter cutoff with clock synced random CV from Pamela's PRO Workout.

Voice 3 - CIZZLE
The final voice in our patch was a bright droning chord produced by the CIZZLE, the system's digital phase distortion oscillator. Oscillator A of the CIZZLE was patched through the other side of the MCFx2, filtered by its second resonant low pass filter and connected to channel 4 of the MEGA-TANG for mixing. For variation, the first trigger sequencer of the the ASQ-1 was connected to the QUAID MEGASLOPE in sequencer mode. Its 5 step sequence was then connected to the CIZZLE's chord inversion CV input, producing subtle changing octave shifts to each of the 4 notes in the droning chord.
To glue it all together, the voices were sent out via the FX send of the MEGA-TANG through the MFX's DIGI-PCM Echo for long clock synced bandwidth (sample rate) reduced echoes. Once the patch was fully built, small changes like filter adjustments and octave transposition were performed to evolve the sounds.
Many different angles of melodic patching can be explored with the Turismo, making use of the ASQ-1 sequencers and quantiser, the powerful quantisation built into Pamela's PRO Workout or MIDI from the mmMidi to control multiple voices. Alongside the CIZZLE and TAZM-O, the Squid Salmple and MCFx2 can also double as unique tonal sound sources, for a wide range of creative melodic options in the system.
